Ping Me! WordPress 2.7.1 Pingback Issue

This pingback issue had been driving me crazy. For several days now, I had been troubleshooting my WordPress installation to check why I am not able to send pingbacks. I spent several hours scouring the internet for any kind of solution. Looks like a lot of people were having the same problem. 

After doing everything in my power to find a solution, I waved my white flag and succumbed to the one stop remedy to everything – a fresh install. After the infamous 5 minute installation and ‘hassle’ free set ups of the plugins, themes, et al, everything seems to be working fine. I have spammed several pingback and trackback tester pages just to check.

So, what was the issue? The culprit is either 1) the All-in-one-SEO-Pack plugin, 2) the previous theme or 3) both of them. I didn’t really test all the plugins one by one. However, one guy was able to solve the issue just by adjusting one setting in the All-in-one-SEO-Pack plugin. I figured, why not just get rid of it. As for the theme, well, I like this one better. 

So if you managed to reach this site looking for a nifty solution to this pingback problem, well, sorry, can’t advise you anything but to do that fresh install. If you do have any insights feel free to share. I sure do want to know what was causing this.

Twitter King

Africa just gained 10,000 bed nets because one man achieved a feat no one has ever done before. Be the first Twitter King. Nice. Congrats to Ashton Kutcher for having 1 million people follow his tweets.

So apparently, tweeting is the popular thing in the interwebs these days. It’s the place to be. And when you’ve got Oprah jumping the band wagon, then it must be something… Right? 

Well, I still have yet to nab a spot in that ‘A-list’ online webspace. Yes, I don’t have one. Am I the only one? Probably… not. I’m not usually to shy away from any new “it” thing in cyberspace. However, tweeting seems to be redundant to Facebook statuses or a mini-blog anecdote. Then again, I can’t say anything final. A few weeks from now, I might get my own. If I do, it’s probably because Oprah has one and I don’t. Not that I plan on following Oprah’s tweets..  But Oprah being more techno-savy and hip than I am, a young IT professional? Yeah. That reason.

Haller World

Haller!

I’m baaaaccckk. Yeah, like the world missed me. The “blogosphere” has grown and changed exponentially that I feel like I’m a long lost prodigal daughter coming back home… Then finding out I have a brother I didn’t know about, 3 step sisters, 4 nieces & nephews and several more long lost relatives. I can’t believe more than a decade has passed since I started “blogging”. It would’ve been nice if I had actually been in that inner circle as it grew. But as it is, I have been on a hiatus for several years now. All I can do is catch up. Though, I was never really that far. (Look, I got myself a photoblog here. Though it’s rarely updated these days. I’m working on that.) I can’t believe that this world has evolved in front of my eyes. It’s quite fascinating actually. So many new things to do and to learn. Nice.

So, I’ve been making my rounds of the blogs/sites I used to frequent to way back when. I’m glad that several of them are still up - Jecca, Tina, Denise, Jem, Dodo and  Trina. Still searching for the others. They really should come out of hiding. =P

So what to do now exactly? Well, watch out for this space then. I’m still fixing a few things here and there. I can’t wait till I get to make myself a new theme. It’s going to take me a while before I can make my own layouts again. I really missed designing. Haven’t done that for a long time. Looking around, I think I’ve got lots and lots of new things to learn. For the meantime, I’ve got to settle for the free pretty themes found at WordPress.
