The Ultimate 500M Lotto Jackpot

Up until last month, I had never placed a bet on lotto. Then, the jackpot for the Grand Lotto 6/55 ballooned to 300M; I started betting. It’s just an unbelievable amount worth betting for. Oh, the things you could do with 300M. I was really hoping for the “beginner’s luck” to strike me. But alas, the 300M is not for me, nor was it for anyone else. There was no winner for that draw.

As of the last draw, the Grand Lotto 6/55 jackpot has gone up to 400M, and it wasn’t going to anyone yet. Tonight’s draw had no winners. The jackpot will more or less reach 500M. That is a LOT of money for one to win instantly, and I’m betting even the richest people are placing their bets for this one. How could you not?

So what would I do with 500,000,000? Yeah, that’s a lot of zeroes I could spend.

Philippine Election 2010

Today, I voted. It wasn’t a smooth one. My precinct was disorganized and chaotic. Voters had to line up under the scorching sun and wait for several hours. It wasn’t pretty. But for a better Philippines, all of this should be worth it. I’m crossing my fingers that my people voted wisely.

Manila Earthquake!

A 6.1 magnitude earthquake hit Manila a few minutes ago.  The news is all over Twitter right now. And probably Facebook.

Despite the Philippines being in the Pacific Ring and earthquakes being a normal occurence,  I’ve never felt one. This is the first time I’ve ever felt an earthquake. And as fate would have it, I just had to be at the 21st floor of one of the tallest buildings in Makati when the earthquake hit. Despite all the advice and tips on what to do during an earthquake, you can never really be prepared. According to the news, the earthquake lasted 30 seconds. But for me, I felt it was longer. And during that timeframe, things were going around my mind: do I go under the table, do I take the fire exit and go down (mind you 21 floors is a long way down), do I stay put, how long will this last, will this building fall, am I going to die?? After what happened to Haiti, I can’t help be paranoid.

I’ve temporarily stopped working right now. I’m still calming my nerves and following Twitter news.  I haven’t heard of any damages yet. I hope there’s none.
