Whenever I’m traveling, I usually have an extensive itinerary or, at least, a list of must-see sights or things to do at wherever I’m visiting. However, my Hong Kong (and supposedly Macau) trip last February was different. Aside from my boyfriend’s plan to eat roasted duck/goose in any of the restaurants there, we didn’t have anything concrete in our itinerary. Good thing my good friend Abby, who is a frequent Hong Kong visitor, was with us. She had a drafted itinerary and a list of recommended Hong Kong restaurants. With her list of recommended HK restaurants, and my boyfriend’s roasted duck/goose craving, it shouldn’t be that surprising we somehow ended up food tripping all over Hong Kong.
So, here are some of the restaurants and food places we ended up dining in.

HK McDonald's Onion Rings
McDonald’s – After the brouhaha with Cebu Pacific and our cancelled Macau flight, we just wanted to eat somewhere familiar on the night of our arrival. And well, since McDonald’s customizes their menu in every country, it’s still a different McDonald’s compared to our ‘McDo’. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to take picture of what we ordered aside from the onion rings.

Ben & Jerry's!
Ben & Jerry’s – After getting lost and walking around for several hours, we weren’t able to resist the temptation when we saw the Ben & Jerry’s stall. So, despite the cold weather, we bought one cup of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream.

I'll post the food pictures in my next blog.
Din Tai Fung – It took us several minutes searching for the place. According to Abby, it’s one of the recommended restaurants in Hong Kong. Now, I know why. Yummy Chinese food! Because of that, I’ll make a whole separate food post for this one.

I'll post the BLT Burgers pictures in my next blog.
BLT Burgers – We were actually looking for a completely different food place before ending up here. Since were hungry already, we ended up picking from any of the restaurants inside Harbor City mall. And good thing too or we wouldn’t have discovered this place. They definitely have the best burgers I’ve ever tasted. Thus, this definitely deserves a separate post.

Yummy pita wrap at Ebeneezer's!
Ebeneezer’s Kebab and Pizzeria – We were initially in line for a table at Yung Kee Restaurant. However, the waiting time was about an hour, and our hungry stomachs can’t wait any longer. We decided to have our appetizer at the nearest fast food in the area, which was Ebeneezer’s. Their wraps were absolutely delicious.

Roasted goose!
Diner at Mongkok – We chanced upon this diner when we were walking around at Mongkok. We entered this one based solely on the picture of a roasted duck/goose in front of their door. Once seated, the servers gave us a Chinese menu. After a few minutes trying to figuring out how we could order, the waiter came up to us and gave us an English menu. I guessed our confused faces gave us away. With a menu we finally could understand, we ordered their roasted goose with rice menu. What we got is one delicious authentic HK food.

Cafe de Coral's yummy meals!
Cafe de Coral (x2) – We found out about this place on our second day. It turns out that it’s a popular fast food place. On our first visit, we ordered their roasted duck meal. It was delicious but a little to bone-y and oily for me. But overall, the meal was delicious. On our 2nd and last try, my boyfriend and I were lucky to get the last batch of their roasted goose meal. After tasting that, I immediately knew why this particular meal is always sold out. It’s really yummy. If it wasn’t sold out, we would’ve ordered again. Yumyum!
Okay, now, I’m hungry and missing Hong Kong’s food.

Implementing WordPress – Facebook Comments Integration
My extra hyper active friend, Vida, has convinced me to finally integrate Facebook’s commenting system in my website. I didn’t want to at first because I’ve somehow developed a phobia of tinkering WordPress’ core scripts and theme files. But after a few hours of Google researching, I’ve found that Facebook Comments is relatively easy to implement.
There are a number of solutions you could find online. You have the option to do Facebook’s way or search for several WordPress solutions. After several hours of searching, I found this easy to use ‘Facebook Comments‘ plugin. There are a lot of WordPress plugins out there offering a way to easily integrate Facebook comments to your WordPress website. I chose this one because it’s relatively easy to use, and I have the option to place the comment box anywhere in my site.
What’s the difference between Facebook’s way and this plugin? Well, Facebook’s way required me to manually place several lines of code in my theme’s files. I’d rather have a plugin do that for me. So, that’s how I ended up with Facebook’s comment box in my site. Let’s see how effective this is.
