The Hoarder

I don’t know why but I can’t seem to detach myself from my old material things. Things like old and used notebooks covered with doodles, old clothes that either doesn’t fit me anymore or it’s so 90′s I won’t get caught wearing it, used books with doodle notes in them and a whole bunch of other stuffs are all still gathering dusts in my closet. Well, I have already cleaned up majority of my things pre-high school era but for the most part everything’s still with me. Every time I try to organize and clean up my old stuff, I find it hard to throw it away. I always have seemingly valid reasons like “I may use that someday” or “it has sentimental value”. At the end of the day, majority of my old things would go back in my closet and won’t see the light  of day until I clean up again.

My hoarding habits has been carried over to the way I keep my digital data. Hard drive space alone, I would need 300GB of space. I need the space for my pictures, music and all other documents. As time passes by, I would need more. Good thing for emails, most email providers are providing unlimited space. And ever since they offered the no space limit feature, I became lazy to delete emails. My main yahoo account has been acquiring emails since forever. And now my Inbox has ballooned to 10,723 emails.

10,00 emails!!!

10,00 emails!!!

Now, that’s a whole lot of emails! This is just my non-work email; my work email is a different issue. So when do I plan to delete these messages? I have no idea. This time it’s not because I may “use it someday” or for the “sentimental value” but because I can’t be bothered. I just think it’s too late to organize a 10,000 email-full inbox. It’s something I just show – off to people. LOL

Philippine Fashion Week 2009

As a kid, I have never really been into fashion. I was contented with the shirt-jeans-sneakers ensemble. I remember my mom having to convince to wear a dress in one of the events we would be going to. But I was really a stubborn child, no convincing would ever get me to wear a dress. Back then, fashion was the least of my worries. My time was usually spent on books, music, webdesign and my other quirky collections. As I grew older, the world of fashion opened up. Little by little, I found myself enjoying window shopping, dressing up, and of course, actually buying the clothes, shoes, bags. It’s not really good budget wise. But it’s fun!

Unfortunately, as much as I would like to dress up every single day, my wardrobe limitation just won’t let me. Plus dressing up for my day job, which requires me to sit in front of the computer and do all techie stuffs, seems overkill. Because of this, I get super excited when an occasion comes that require dressing up. Just like last May, my friends and I were able to attend Sassa Jimenez’ fashion show during Philippine Fashion Week Holiday ’09. Finally, got to dress up again!

Moi and Leigh

Moi and Leigh. I've got one awkward pose.

Aside from the usual college organized fashion shows I’ve been to, I have never really attended A fashion show, specifically organized and handled by the heavy weights of the industry. So, I was really curious and excited to see this one. Add the fact that Sassa Jimenez is a familiar name and face since she went to the same high school as I did. Though I don’t personally know her, I’ve been hearing a lot about her talent from acquaintances and common friends. Come show time, I wasn’t disappointed. Her collection reminded me of the glamour and style of the 40′s. Her designs created an elegant and sophisticated silhouette with a touch of movement. Love it! Unfortunately, my camera died and I don’t have pictures of anything AT all. I was starting to get frustrated when I couldn’t find a picture of the finale dress that I absolutely love. Then, I remembered my friend, Tel, does have one.

Isn’t it lovely? I’ve been scouting the net for a complete gallery of her Holiday ’09 collection but I haven’t been lucky. You could read reviews about it here, here and here. If you want to view more of her designs, you could check out her website, www.sassajimenez.com.ph, and ClickTheCity.com’s gallery for her Spring/Summer 2009 collection.

My Shell-Ferrari Model Car Collection

Ferrari Model Cars

Ferrari Model Cars: Gotta have em all!

For the month of April-May, Pilipinas Shell launched its new set of Ferrari Model cars ‘with real engine sounds’. The collection composes of seven 1:38 scale model Ferrari cars. You can purchase one of the model cars at any Shell gas station for as low as P80 if you gas up P500 worth of Shell V-power or for P120 if you purchase P500 worth of any Shell products. Collecting these model cars was one of my projects for these months.

I have always been fascinated with the Shell-Ferrari model car collections. As a kid, I have been exposed to the Shell-Ferrari model car collection promo of since both of my parents used to work for Pilipinas Shell. Whenever Shell would launch a new set of Ferrari model cars, my parents would be able to get all the collection pieces without going through all the hoopla. However, my parents are no longer affiliated with the company; thus, we have to do the ‘normal’ way of collecting. It took me a while but as you can see I have been able to collect all 7 plus the limited edition Red 599 GTB. Yey me! Next time I would show off my Shell-Ferrari key chain collection.
