Unfortunately, I don’t know where I could get them. Drop me a line if you know! So far, I’ve only seen Garace Dore wearing it.

Necklace: To Buy or Not To Buy

I have been online “window” shopping lately. Not only is it convenient, it also prevents me from impulse buying. Online shopping subjects the buyer, yes me, into several processes before actually getting the item. There are a lot of hoopla and things to consider such as payment and shipping details. With traditional shopping, it only takes a few minutes – or seconds even – of touching, holding, smelling, and trying on an item and you’re off buying it. And well, knowing myself, I always get into the impulse buying mode especially when it’s all done with a swipe of the credit card.

Anyway, I have found this online shop, named Dumask,a few weeks back. Dumask offers limited pieces of vintage handcrafted fashion jewelry. Most of the time they sell only one piece of a particular design. That’s how unique and one-of-kind their pieces are.

While going through their shop, I fell in love with two pieces, the Black Flower bracelet and the I love Photography necklace. Too bad both are sold out. That hasn’t stopped me from visiting the site often and “window shop”. I love looking at their designs and keeping on the look out for their new collection.  I’ll never know I may find something similar to the sold out items I’ve wanted.

When they finally released their July collection, the Victorian lady and key charm necklace caught my attention. I have been eyeing this particular piece since then. If I had found this through traditional shopping, I may not have controlled myself and bought it right there and then. (Un)Fortunately, it’s not. I get to really think about this purchase especially since I’m on a tight budget. So tell me, to buy or not to buy.

Philippine Fashion Week 2009

As a kid, I have never really been into fashion. I was contented with the shirt-jeans-sneakers ensemble. I remember my mom having to convince to wear a dress in one of the events we would be going to. But I was really a stubborn child, no convincing would ever get me to wear a dress. Back then, fashion was the least of my worries. My time was usually spent on books, music, webdesign and my other quirky collections. As I grew older, the world of fashion opened up. Little by little, I found myself enjoying window shopping, dressing up, and of course, actually buying the clothes, shoes, bags. It’s not really good budget wise. But it’s fun!

Unfortunately, as much as I would like to dress up every single day, my wardrobe limitation just won’t let me. Plus dressing up for my day job, which requires me to sit in front of the computer and do all techie stuffs, seems overkill. Because of this, I get super excited when an occasion comes that require dressing up. Just like last May, my friends and I were able to attend Sassa Jimenez’ fashion show during Philippine Fashion Week Holiday ’09. Finally, got to dress up again!

Moi and Leigh

Moi and Leigh. I've got one awkward pose.

Aside from the usual college organized fashion shows I’ve been to, I have never really attended A fashion show, specifically organized and handled by the heavy weights of the industry. So, I was really curious and excited to see this one. Add the fact that Sassa Jimenez is a familiar name and face since she went to the same high school as I did. Though I don’t personally know her, I’ve been hearing a lot about her talent from acquaintances and common friends. Come show time, I wasn’t disappointed. Her collection reminded me of the glamour and style of the 40′s. Her designs created an elegant and sophisticated silhouette with a touch of movement. Love it! Unfortunately, my camera died and I don’t have pictures of anything AT all. I was starting to get frustrated when I couldn’t find a picture of the finale dress that I absolutely love. Then, I remembered my friend, Tel, does have one.

Isn’t it lovely? I’ve been scouting the net for a complete gallery of her Holiday ’09 collection but I haven’t been lucky. You could read reviews about it here, here and here. If you want to view more of her designs, you could check out her website, www.sassajimenez.com.ph, and ClickTheCity.com’s gallery for her Spring/Summer 2009 collection.
